At the House of the House of the United States of America (HoUSA), our goal is to work together in the spirit of goodwill, unity, and harmony while bringing family, friends and the community together. We observe special days such as Memorial Day (May), Flag Day (June 14th), and U.S. Constitution Day(September). We present lawn programs, African American Heritage Celebration (February), Asian Pacific American Heritage Celebration (May), Independence Day Celebration (July), and Veterans Day Celebration (November). The focus is celebrating these days allows us to educate the public in an fun, interesting, and informative manner.

The HoUSA Cottage (House) was opened in 1935 when the California Pacific International Exposition was held in Balboa Park. We are one of the original 15  Members Houses. Presently, there are 32 Member Houses who have their own Cottage in the House of Pacific Relations (HPR) International Cottages section of Balboa Park.

We are a member of the HPR, a consortium of non-profit,501(c)3, ‘houses’ whose primary goal is to promote multicultural goodwill and understanding through educational and cultural programs.  To accomplish this goal, the HoUSA participates in, including but not limited to, HPR cultural events annually in Ethnic Food Fair (EFF), Lawn Programs, and the International Christmas Festival (ICF) or commonly known as December Nights.

Visit our Cottage and engage in celebrating our music, culture, and history, while we provide an inviting environment for our many visitors. Docents will welcome you and answer any appropriate questions (we do not discuss religion or politics).  We are open every Saturday and Sunday, except Balboa Park designated holidays/events, from 11am to 4pm.
